FAQs

We manufacture each and every record in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Plan for 12 weeks start to finish. If you provide your project assets quickly and approve proofs and test pressings promptly, we can complete your order much sooner.

No. There are several niche artisans involved in the process, and every client receives the same careful attention in the order their project begins.

Pressing records involves chemistry, precision, and coordination. From lacquer cutting to nickel stampers, center labels, jackets, and shipping of all components — it's a deeply collaborative, time-intensive process.

We're a boutique shop with only three employees. We pay fair wages and prioritize quality. That means no shortcuts, no rushed batches, and no high turnover — just consistently great records.

This step is built into every order. We send you a test pressing and wait for your approval before manufacturing the full run.

Endlessly. Whether you're dreaming up a swirl of colors, a unique jacket layout, or special inserts, we’re always excited to help make your vision real.

Yes! Once we receive the details of your project, we’ll include accurate shipping costs for any location worldwide.

Absolutely. Every record we press is inspected for flaws. We stand behind the consistency and clarity of our work. (Check out the Reviews tab!)

Our minimum order is 100 units.

Generally, our maximum is 2000 units. Larger orders can be split into batches if needed.

Black is always a safe and clear option. Most colors perform just as well — unless they include glitter, heavy swirls, or metallic flakes, which may introduce subtle surface noise.

Flashback Records (formerly Moonshot Phonograph) is managed by Unidisc Music, a Canadian label with over 40 years of experience in the music industry.

Tips & Did You Know’s?

Raw PVC

PVC Resin

All PVC starts as an off-white resin. Colors, including black, are added at the factory or blended on site to create unique finishes for your records.

Stampers

Nickel Stampers

Stampers are pure nickel negatives of your master. They imprint the grooves into hot PVC during the pressing process — the heart of vinyl manufacturing.

Outsourced Jacket

Outsourced Jackets

We can help you save by outsourcing your jackets to a local print shop. You assemble them in-house — cutting costs without cutting quality.

The center labels are baked?

Yes! Labels are baked before pressing to remove moisture. This helps prevent bubbling and ensures perfect bonding to the record.

Save money on second orders

Once your lacquers and stampers are created, there’s no need to remake them. Your next pressing of the same title is faster and more affordable.
